Cozy Coffee Shop Senior Photos at Offbeat Coffee in Salem, Oregon

Cozy sweater senior portraits at coffee shop in downtown Salem Oregon

There is something about a rainy Saturday in February in Salem, Oregon that just feels cinematic. The sidewalks are glossy, the air smells like espresso and wet pavement, and everything slows down in the sweetest way.

And honestly? It was the perfect backdrop for Deonna’s second senior session.

If you remember her first session — Foggy + Dreamy Senior Photos at McPhillips Beach — you know we leaned into soft coastal magic and moody ocean fog. (If you haven’t seen it yet, go read that blog after this. It’s such a vibe.) But this time, we traded sea mist for steam rising off a dirty chai and created something completely different: cozy coffee shop senior photos at Offbeat Coffee in Salem, Oregon.

And I loved every second of it.

Why a Coffee Shop Senior Session in Salem, Oregon?

As a high school senior photographer based in Salem, Oregon, I am always encouraging my seniors to think beyond “just a location.” I want your photos to feel like you. Your habits, your favorite drinks, your Saturday rituals.

Deonna loves dirty chai tea. It’s her drink. So when we started dreaming up her second senior session, we knew it needed to involve somewhere warm, inviting, and full of character.

Enter Offbeat Coffee.

This place has the coolest vibes. There’s a plant-filled room by the windows where soft natural light pours in, even on a rainy Oregon day. And then there’s the deep red record room — yes, an actual vinyl listening space — where you can sink into a chair and let the world fade out a little.

It felt like stepping into a coming-of-age film. And Deonna? She belonged there.

A Rainy Saturday at Offbeat Coffee

It rained all day. The kind of steady Oregon rain that feels romantic instead of inconvenient. The windows were dotted with droplets, the streets outside shimmered, and inside it was warm and softly buzzing.

We started in the plant room by the windows. Deonna kept her outfits simple but adorable — and that’s one of my favorite things about her style. She doesn’t overcomplicate it. She refines it.

Her first look was very chic. Clean lines, elevated but effortless. It paired so beautifully with the modern, minimalist corners of the shop. Think editorial, but approachable.

Then she shifted into a cozy sweater vibe — oversized, relaxed, the kind of outfit you want to curl up in with your favorite book. She wrapped her hands around her dirty chai, laughed between sips, and it felt completely natural. Not posed. Just her.

And then we had my personal favorite: her 90’s grunge-inspired look. A little edge. A little attitude. Paired with the deep red record room and stacks of vinyl? It was magic. That rich red backdrop made everything feel bold and intentional.

One of my favorite moments was watching her flip through records, completely in her element. It didn’t feel like a “photo shoot.” It felt like documenting who she is right now — in this in-between season of finishing high school and stepping into whatever comes next.

Second Senior Sessions? Yes, Please.

I love that Deonna chose to do a second senior session.

Your senior year is layered. You’re not just one aesthetic. You’re not just one mood. And sometimes one session doesn’t tell the whole story.

Her first session at McPhillips Beach was dreamy, windswept, and coastal. This one was cozy, artistic, and intimate. Together, they paint such a full picture of her senior year.If you haven’t seen her beach session yet, you can read it here:
