Peyton's Adventure Senior Session!
When I met with Peyton and asked her what would make her senior session hands down the best ever, she replied a boat on a lake in the fall with maybe a camp vibe and totally unique. I was so stoked!! It was like Peyton just asked me what my ideal senior adventure session was and I knew exactly where we should go!
We started off at Clear Lake which is the head waters of the McKenzie River in Oregon. Honestly it is some of the clearest, most gorgeous turquoise colored water I have ever seen! I have hiked several places on the McKenzie River, but this was my first time to clear lake. Peyton's mom rented a row boat and we explored all over the lake! You better believe that I also included a little row lesson as well!
While it was a seriously gorgeous day, it was also incredibly windy and cold! The temperature was 39 degrees when we started and the wind on the lake was no joke! I always pack extra blankets and wrap up my seniors in between getting set up for the next set of images. I also pack hot drinks (either tea or cocoa) because warming up from the inside helps soooo much!
After about an hour on the lake we headed back and started a campfire near the lake, complete with hot cocoa, hats and blankets. It was seriously the perfect camp vibe ever. If family comes along, I like to throw them in to the mix as well, so we snagged some mom and daughter shots and some sister shots too.
After finishing at Clear Lake, we headed towards Sisters, Oregon to get a different look. Sisters has some really incredible spots that include gorgeous aspen, towering ponderosa pine, and stunning meadows with epic views. It is truly one of my favorite locations. There is this one spot that is on the side of the highway that I have wanted to shoot at for probably the last 10 years. When I described it to Peyton, she was enthusiastically agreeable. We were about two weeks late for the aspen leaves, however the meadow and views were still amazing. While I do everything possible to keep you as comfortable as possible, eventually it just gets too cold and its not worth that one extra shot to push past that point of no longer fun. So we stopped when Peyton was too cold. It started snowing about 10 minutes later!
