Columbia Gorge Adventure Engagement Session
I was so excited when Sara and Steve wanted their engagement photos to look like "Oregon". And that they were up for an adventure! I knew we had to do something with a waterfall, a view of a mountain or river and it had to have some trees and epic views-because that is soooo Oregon!
The original plan was to start at Latourell Falls and then head to Hood River for this cute farm with a great view of Mt. Hood, but of course it was super cloudy that day. So with all good photographers, I had a back up plan and it was actually perfect!! We met at a parking lot in Troutdale and rode together, which was so great because we had a chance to chat and laugh the whole way!
Our adventure started at Latourell Falls, located on the Historic Columbia River Hwy. I was super happy that it was cloudy for this part, because it just makes the light better and we started a little earlier to allow for travel time. Latourell Falls is a perfect location when you want the look of an adventure session, but are really not up for a hike. The trail to the falls is super short and easy with pretty views of the creek. And the falls are simply stunning! We then headed to Government Cove. This is one of those iconic locations that just scream The Gorge. Getting there from Latourell Falls is a little tricky, and we ended up a little later than I ideally wanted-but it gave us an opportunity for some amazing sunset shots and gorgeous blue hour shots.
Sara and Steve were so easy to work with! I realized not too far in that both of them disliked heights, so I made sure that they felt safe and didn't place them where they weren't comfortable...or I should say where they were so uncomfortable that they couldn't relax for the photo. I was super proud of them for trusting me and working together and supporting each other.
I cannot wait for their wedding next year! They are so my type of people-down to earth with a focus on what matters-each other and love.
