Fall Senior Photos at Silver Falls State Park | Alli’s October Session

There is something about October in Oregon that feels like a deep breath. The air turns crisp, the leaves decide to absolutely show off, and the light softens in the most flattering way. Alli’s senior session at Silver Falls State Park was exactly that kind of day — sunny, colorful, and perfectly fall.

As a high school senior photographer based in Salem, Oregon, I get to witness our seasons in their full glory. And this day? It was the kind you wish you could bottle up.

A Perfect October Day at Silver Falls

We met at Silver Falls on one of those rare Oregon fall days where the sun shows up and commits. The leaves were vibrant — gold, rust, deep red — and the forest felt alive but peaceful. October is one of my favorite months for senior photos because the colors add so much natural dimension without overpowering you. It’s like nature understands it’s your senior year and wants to celebrate too.

Alli stepped out ready, excited, and totally herself — which is my favorite kind of energy.

Multiple Outfit Vibes (Yes Please)

One thing I loved about Alli’s session was the variety she brought. She came prepared with several different outfit vibes, and I’m always here for that. Your senior session should feel like a mini editorial of who you are right now.

We captured:

  • A casual, effortless look
  • A slightly dressier vibe
  • And my personal favorite — a white skirt paired with a maroon top

That white skirt and maroon combo against the golden October leaves? Magic. The contrast was rich but soft at the same time. It felt feminine, confident, and very “main character in a coming-of-age movie.” I couldn’t stop smiling behind my camera.Outfit changes are such a simple way to add variety to your senior photos without changing locations. Bringing Your Best Friend (Highly Encouraged)

Alli brought her best friend Addy along, which I absolutely love. Senior year is about more than just you — it’s about the friendships that shaped you too.

Addy jumped into a few best friend photos, and those images are some of my favorites from the session. There’s something so honest about best friend laughter. It’s not posed or polished — it’s real.

I always tell my seniors: if you want your best friend in a few photos, bring them. We’ll capture a handful of meaningful shots and then focus back on you. It adds personality and makes the whole experience more fun.

Ending at North Falls with Lanterns

We wrapped Alli’s session at North Falls, and it was the perfect ending. As the sun began to dip and the forest shifted into that softer, moodier light, we brought out lanterns for a completely different feel.

The glow against the darker greens and browns of the forest created this cinematic vibe — cozy, slightly dramatic, and incredibly beautiful. It felt like the final scene of a story. Confident. Reflective. Ready for what’s next.

Silver Falls has so many iconic spots, but North Falls at golden hour in the fall? It’s something special. If you’re curious about more stunning backdrops nearby, I share them in “Top 8 Favorite Senior Photo Locations Near Salem, Oregon.” There are so many beautiful options depending on your vibe.

Why Fall Is Such a Dream for Senior Photos

Fall senior photos in Oregon offer:

  • Naturally vibrant color palettes
  • Flattering, diffused light
  • Cooler temperatures (no summer squinting!)
  • Layering options for outfits

October especially gives you that balance of warmth and crispness. It feels fresh and exciting — kind of like senior year itself.

Alli’s session was the perfect reminder that senior photos don’t have to feel stiff or overly posed. They can feel like you, in a season that reflects this chapter of your life.

And honestly? That’s the goal.

Senior year goes by fast. Faster than anyone tells you it will. Your photos should feel like you — joyful, grounded, a little bold, and completely yourself.

If you’re dreaming of fall leaves, golden light, waterfalls, or something entirely different, let’s make it happen. I photograph seniors throughout Salem and beyond, and I’d love to create something that feels uniquely yours.
