To help you plan for your senior photography experience, here is a complete checklist to help you nail your session:
- Choose a photographer
- Set a date and time
- Choose a location
- Plan your outfits
- Be prepared for weather
- Have a makeup and hair plan
- Bring props and accessories
- Relax and have fun
Choose a photographer
This one might seem like a no-brainer, but doing your research and choosing a photographer who has experience and expertise in senior photography is super important. Each photographer will have their own style and you want to make sure that resonates with you! Are you ready to become a Lindsay Newton Photography Senior? Click HERE and let’s start planning!
Set a date and time
Choose a date for your senior photography session that will allow you to have your dreams come true. The seasons and weather play a pretty big role in your photos! You can’t wait until the last minute (October and November) if you want flowers. The same can be said if you want the best fall colors, you will not want to book your session in early September. Not sure when is the best time of year for what you are dreaming of? No worries, just send me a message and let’s chat! And we will always pick a time of day that is best for lighting-but don’t worry, we will go over that on your Zoom call.
Choose a location
Choose a location for your senior photos that will provide a beautiful and interesting backdrop for your photos. Not totally sure where to have them taken? Check out these two blogs for inspiration: Top 9 Adventure Locations and Top 8 Locations near Salem, Oregon. Still not sure? No worries-I have a ton of locations that I have captured and will help you pick the one (or two) that is perfect for you!
Plan your outfits
Choose outfits for your senior photography session that reflect your personal style and that will help capture all of the different pieces of your personality. On average, my seniors have 4-6 outfits. Pinterest is a great help in deciding what vibe you want for each outfit. Think of each one as a separate scene in a movie and what you want to portray in each one. Still stuck? No worries-we will go over outfits on your consultation call! You can also check out my Pinterest boards for inspiration.
Be prepared for weather
Depending on the time of year, your senior photography session could be affected by weather. We will work together on a backup plan and decide if we have to reschedule.
Have a makeup and hair plan
Consider having your makeup and hair professionally done for your senior photography session to ensure that you look your best in your photos. Not sure if that is the route you want to go? You can absolutely do your own makeup and hair! I recommend a pretty natural face to make sure that you look like you! Your senior photos shouldn’t be the time to try out a new fad, lol!
Bring props and accessories
Bring props and accessories to your senior photography session to make your senior photos unique and help capture your personality. This could be sports equipment, musical instruments, vehicles, or other items that reflect your interests and passions.
Relax and have fun
Your senior photography session is a fun and special experience, so relax and have fun. Because I use so much movement in my posing, it really doesn’t feel as awkward…promise! Make a playlist because I bring a speaker along and be prepared to laugh! I promise, it will be SO MUCH FUN!
